About Sifnos
 Sifnos 5 days - here are there no “letting out” people welcoming You in the port - Kamares - You go personally in a small office at the harbour.
Here we told the very helpful young girl what we wanted, room with bath, refrigerator and sea view in town.
After showing us on a map where, we could se there was many steps, and entering this with my with my suitcase (see Milos) could be a problem, but "no problem”, the family came down and picked us in car. The wife Anna showed us 3 rooms, and we decides us for one, and all was how we wanted Hereafter get we exhibit a pair rooms, and all was as it should be.
The 3€ we have paid to the little office, Anna gave us back.
Strait after unpacking go we down to harbour, and our eyes right away saw a small place with blue table and Greek
chair "O Thanos", overlooking the bay, so our place for " after sun" place was found, and we can enjoy beer/ Retsina.
By Mikes, we rented a scooter, and here become no helms, well we did not asked for this, but we felt that we could have a good conscience bad if meet the police.
Terry on Milos have told us, that Sifnos feel very intimate, which we only can say its true, and we enjoyed the atmosphere in Kamares, as lie incredible beautiful in it little bay, and can very much imagining how it will be to stay here in the high season.
In Kamares main street, is there a good selection of taverns, cafés and of course the many ceramic shops/ workshops with the islands famous ceramic.
Going around at Sifnos from Kamares You have to go to the main town, from where all roads to other places pass, but the drive from Kamares to Apolonia is very beautiful, and we discovered new things every time. Platis Gialos, where there en elegant beach, feel we was hero without athmosphare,
so we drive further to Faros, where we found a small fishing hamlet, et pair good taverns and a little beach - outside the villages. Faros feel we were charmingly with the old houses, and without a lot of things for tourists".
Vathi have also en fine beach, some places narrow, but also a place we like and here we found a small tavern where we got a very nice lunch with stuffed tomatoes and an excellent salad.
In the main town Apolonia You will find many little narrow streets, where You can work around for hours looking at the well-painted houses and many churches.
Also Kastro and Artemonas, are a visit worth.
If you continue north direction Heronissos, are there et place where man can live in windmill, and drive up here enjoy the view from over the landscape at the trip.
Heronissos are a very little fishing hamlet a few taverns and a tiny beach, so here enjoyed we a " little" Ouzo - the glass become donate ½
up, but we was not busy, and had time to sit down and enjoy the peace, we found here.
To Heronissos they first now have got an asphalted road, someone told us it was the ex minister Simitis, there is very fond of Sifnos is to thank for the new road.
On Sifnos is nature very varying, from the green and floridly to the rugged coast stretch. Some place was
there deck with en blow mini brooms, as I feel smelled of honey.
Food? Yes I have been reading about all the islands famous casseroles, but as experience before are the most grill food You can get served, and travel so many days in Greece, we really get tires with the few choices, but well it’s the price to pay out of the season.
We therefore visited “Camaron” and get us a Pizza evening, and what a pizza, uhm!
The owner Niko told us that everything was homemade, and we can warmly recommend the
restaurant.
